Marta is a Minnesotan who fell in love with the ocean and all its creatures after moving to Boston and then San Francisco, where she lives with her husband and two daughters.
Marta is a long-time volunteer at Point Reyes National Seashore with her husband as part of the winter wildlife program. The inspiration for her first children's book, Little Gray’s Great Migration, happened when Marta saw a gray whale calf breach 13 times right below the Point Reyes lighthouse.
Marta has degrees in environmental science and public policy. Marta is a communications consultant to nonprofits.
Marta is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.
